Meet Our Anointed Leader, Bishop Melvin J. Williams, Sr
Bishop Mel Williams, affectionally known as Pastor Mel, is an anointed and energetic teacher/preacher, led by God. He has a great love for people, followed by a desire to see them grow in the Lord. Pastor Mel has accumulated over 30 years of leadership experience in the corporate sector as well as within the church organism. Pastor Mel believes that God's people should be equipped with effective leadership and ministry skills to enhance the growth of the church. Pastor Mel accepted Christ in 1968 under the ministry of the late Bishop C.D. Williams in Anchorage, Alaska. In 1975, he received his ordination.
Leadership Legacy & Church Service
For more than 45 years, Pastor Mel has held various positions on the Local, District, and State levels within the Alaska Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ (COGIC). Before accepting the call to Pastor, he also served as assistant Pastor to Bishop Williams at the Greater Friendly Temple, COGIC. In 2008, Pastor Mel founded Dominion Ministries COGIC in Anchorage, Alaska, where he continues to serve as Senior Pastor.
Academic & Ministry Excellence
He holds a B.S. Degree in Business Administration and a master's degree in Church Administration from Friend's International Christian University (FICU). He has taught several classes at the COGIC National Leadership Conference, as well as leadership development seminars nationally and globally.
Recognitions &
Leadership Expansion
In 2020, Pastor Mel received a Doctor of Divinity Degree from St. Thomas Christian University. In 2023, Pastor Mel was elevated to the office of Auxiliary Bishop for Alaska. Jurisdiction: Church of God in Christ.
Faithful in Marriage, Blessed in Family
Bishop Mel has been married to the love of his life, Bonnie, for 49 years. Together they have six children, ten grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
