About Dominion Ministries
Dominion Ministries, a tapestry of varied faith experiences, with rich Pentecostal soil…whose mission is to strengthen believers and evangelize the world. Dominion is trinitarian, believing in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and follows the rich traditions and tenets of the Church of God in Christ (COGIC).
At Dominion Ministries, we don’t just attend “church” we do Kingdom! We are here to influence the world by building the Kingdom of God on earth, by ministering to the needs of the lost, the last and the least of these, outside the four walls of the physical building.
We accept the call to make and train disciples to do the impossible. As we worship the Lord, we strive to present our bodies as a living sacrifice unto God and enhance our communities. We are ordinary people commissioned to an extraordinary task.
History of Dominion Ministries
The Vision Begins (Early 2000)
In early 2000, Pastor Mel was led by the Lord to organize a ministry around leadership training for church leaders. He felt the desire to train pastors and church leaders in people-related skills such as communication, encouragement, motivation and counseling. The Lord gave him the name of ‘Dominion Ministries Alive’ with the Scripture, Daniel 7:27 that says; “And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people of the Saints of the Most High, Whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom and all dominion shall serve Him.” As a result, Pastor Mel led leadership development trainings in Alaska and the lower 48, including conducting sessions at our National Leadership Conferences. It was always his vision to equip the body of Christ to walk in the authority given to them by God through His Word.
In 2007, Pastor Mel was led by the Lord to pastor and begin teaching people about building the Kingdom of God on Earth. He had the burning desire, but not the release from God to go forth. During early 2008, Pastor Mel sensed the release from the Lord to leave the church where he had served for more than 30 years, (Greater Friendly Temple Church of God in Christ) under the leadership of Bishop C.D. Williams. He shared my heart with Bishop Williams about this and was given his blessing in July, 2008.
With the release from God and Bishop Williams’ blessing, he began to launch what God had planted in my spirit back in 2000. In keeping with the name God gave me earlier, the name Dominion Ministries Church of God in Christ continued, with the theme of “Building the Kingdom of God on Earth”. Jesus prayed Matthew 6:10 “…thy Kingdom come, thy will be done in earth, as it is in Heaven.” With that focus in mind, Pastor Mel’s prayer and endeavor has always been that Dominion Ministries would win souls for the kingdom of God.
Dominion Ministries opened its doors for its first service with twelve members & visitors on Sunday, October 5, 2008. For the first five years, we were divinely blessed to share the building with Anchorage Assembly of God and in 2013, God favored us to purchase our own facility, where we remain.
